About Aline

I’m a longtime elementary school teacher, two-term At-Large School Committee member, & the proud parent of three Northampton Public School graduates. I’m running to represent Ward Five on the Northampton City Council, succeeding Alex Jarrett.

Serving on the School Committee has been a tremendous honor. It has also prepared me to take on a new role as your representative on the City Council. I have worked closely with fellow representatives to navigate complex issues and complicated budgets—and thanks to my years in the classroom, I know that behind every line item are real people working hard to serve our community. I will bring that same sense of care, collaboration, and positivity to the City Council.

After 25 years of teaching, I made the difficult decision to retire from the classroom. It wasn’t easy to step away from a career I loved, but it’s given me the opportunity to dedicate my full energy to public service in a new way. I’m ready to listen closely, and work with you to keep Northampton strong, inclusive, and forward-thinking.

Northampton should be affordable, accessible, safe and sustainable.  We should do all we can with the resources we have to invest in our schools, public safety, and infrastructure.

I will make sure every Ward 5 resident has accurate information about city business so that you can make informed judgements.  I will listen to all viewpoints with an open mind.  I will respond promptly to questions and suggestions from community members.

I believe people inside and outside of city government need to work together with a collaborative spirit to get the most done for the city we all cherish.
